21 Jan Buying a property with a flood risk
Melissa Lawford quoted me in a piece in today’s Telegraph. The article covered the issues involved in buying a property with a historic or future flood risk. Our due diligence always includes investigating the flood risk a property has from rivers and surface water. We would also obtain a copy of the current property insurance policy as that is a good indicator of risk.
If you want to look into this yourself a useful place to start is with the Environment Agency. They are able to provide maps of the flood risk in the locality of a property. Click here to view the relevant maps using a post code.
If you require more detailed information you can apply for the flood risk on a property. Click here to read about that process in more detail.
